Not only do the Artists represented by Portraits of a World bring a marvelous collection of stories, dreams and journeys from around the globe, they also each have their own story. Find out more about them here.
Javier Ramos This artist has been relating stories about the people and lands of his native Mexico since 1981. A resident of Ajijic in the State of Jalisco, he works in a variety of mediums and his pieces extend beyond portraits to include figures, landscapes and still-life. His over-riding requirement is that each piece 'must say something about the subject'. In addition to doing commissioned portratis (which may be from photos), this artist gives art lessons on a regular basis in his home town of Ajijic for those wishing to capture the total experience. Enquiries as to either commissioned works or lessons may be directed to this artist through the 'Contact Us' portion of this website.

A.G.Scharf:
Having retired from over 30 years practicing law in Western Canada, the world of art from the perspective of a creator as opposed to a mere spectator has added an exciting chapter to this new artist's life. 'Having used the common pencil for many years, it was exciting to discover its ability to convey feeling and tell a story other than through words.' With some black and white, colored pencil is the instrument of choice from which most of the limited edition Giclee prints are derived from this new artist. With Mexico as a base and the world as a potential source of inspiration, the stories unfold.
